Candlelight and Carols Vivaldi's Gloria - Saturday, Dec. 15th, 2018 at 7:00 PM

One of sacred music’s most inspirational choral works, Vivaldi’s Gloria is a mosaic of succinct movements, ranging from polyphonic brilliance to profound sadness. Featuring lilting solo work and momentous choruses for choir and orchestra. This masterpiece will be the perfect accompaniment to the holiday season. In addition, a selection of seasonal carols will be performed.

Haydn's The Creation

Inspired by Handel’s Messiah and Israel in Egypt, Haydn’s The Creation is a monumental mosaic of soaring choruses, inspired solo work, and history-making orchestral writing. Debuted in 1799, this three-part oratorio describes the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis and Paradise Lost, with solo appearances by the archangels Gabriel, Uriel, and Raphael, and by Adam and Eve. Maestro Zielke will also present a special pre-concert talk on the work.

Meredith Willson's The Music Man

This Tony Award-winning musical by Meredith Willson is a delightful slice of Americana. With its many familiar songs like, Till There Was You, Lida Rose, and Seventy-six Trombones, it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser. This semi-stage, concert version promises the full mosaic of songs from the infamous Harold Hill; the prim librarian Marian Paroo; to the many other characters in the show. Stage direction by Cate Cafferella.
