Everyone knows A Christmas Carol. We meet the flinty old businessman, Ebenezer Scrooge, who receives, though he hardly welcomes visits from four Ghosts, starting with his late partner, Jacob Marley. By the end of one eventful night, Scrooge has discovered the meaning of Christmas and been transformed. But how did Jacob Marley get permission to visit Scrooge in the first place?
