John Nilsen is a pianist, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. He is one of the Pacific Northwest's most successful performance and recording artists. John is a Yamaha Piano artist and was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2024. Magic Wing, the record label Nilsen founded thirty-five years ago, has a catalogue of over twenty titles, all distributed internationally. His record sales far exceed a million copies, a rare accomplishment in the music industry. 240 of his compositions and arrangements receive BMI royalties.

Nilsen is a prolific performer. Over the past thirty-five years, he has averaged 200 shows a year, performing as a solo pianist, solo guitarist and as a member of his two bands. He has appeared with such luminaries as Jose Feliciano, Jesse Colin Young, David Foster, Marc Cohn, Kenny G, Alex De Grassi, Montreaux and many others. 

Nilsen is a native of the Pacific Northwest, born in Seattle and raised primarily in Portland, where he has been a resident for many years. Nilsen began studying piano from his mother at age six and taught himself to play guitar at age twelve. He attended Southern Oregon University, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. John was honored by the institution in 1995 in recognition of his outstanding achievements, dedicated efforts and leadership in the field of the performing arts with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the most prestigious award bestowed upon Southern Oregon University graduates. He loves to get out on the rivers, into the forests and onto the mountains of the region. The people, landscapes, weather, and tenor of life in the Pacific Northwest frequently influence Nilsen's musical themes.

The venue is located at 3240 Upper Drive in a residential area of Lake Oswego. Please be respectful of neighboring homes and do not block or park in driveways/pathways. In addition to on-street parking, we have arranged free parking at:

4040 Sunset Drive (x street is Upper Drive)

This parking is a short 5 minute walk to the venue. The venue is a private residence located at the back right side of a flag lot. Look for the balloons!
