The legendary Jo Miller & Her Burly Roughnecks ride again! We're both honored and excited to host the band for this extraordinary special event at Gator Boy’s Juke Joint. The Burly Roughnecks are a super swingin’, rockin’ hillbilly jump band led by Jo’s superb vocals and unerring rhythm guitar, and their mighty tight ‘n’ tasty dance beat will put you right in the groove. We’re talkin’ honky-tonk and western swing harking to the late 40s to early 60s and including rhythm and blues, doo-wop, country, blues and jazz.

You might remember Jo Miller as the lead singer of the legendary "almost all girl" western swing band, Ranch Romance, who released three albums on Sugar Hill Records, toured with kd lang, won every music award available in Seattle and was one of the most popular festival acts in North America in the mid-1980s. After eight years of hard touring, Jo took some time off from the music biz and then came back with a vengeance at the turn of the century with the Burly Roughnecks, who swing like crazy, dress just right and show up on time. The band honed their groove and knocked 'em dead at regular gigs at Seattle roadhouses and national festivals such as Bumbershoot, Chicago Folk & Roots Festival, Winterhawk, Rhythm & Roots in Ninigret, NW Folklife Festival, etc. And now, after another extended break, the Burly is back!

There are few band leaders who connect so effortlessly to their audience, keep up the pace on stage, tell great stories between tunes, and make the people jump up and dance to the best swingin', rockin' American music on earth. This promises to be a truly transcendent event and we hope to see y’all there!
