Matices Latin Ensemble: Incorporating a variety of elements from Latin music, Brazilian Bossa Nova, Cuban Son,  and Latin Jazz, Matices Latin Ensemble plays an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary music from Latin America. The band performs entertaining and dynamic shows for listeners and dancers alike. In a single set they pull together influences from many regions and countries. Their shows appeal to audiences of all ages and create an atmosphere where English-speaking audiences can appreciate the diversity of Latin American cultures, and Spanish speaking audiences can share and celebrate their exciting musical legacy.

The band features a wide variety of instruments and rhythms from all over Latin America and the Caribbean. Leader and founder Freddy Vilches (Chile) provides lead vocals, Latin American guitars, Andean flutes, and composes the band’s original material; Adalberto Dominguez (Mexico) plays a variety of Latin percussion; Nelson Morales (Cuba) plays piano and keyboard, Nico Vilches (Chile) provides vocals, piano and percussion; and Adrian Baxter (US) plays flute & sax. Band members also contribute in the arrangement of the band’s compositions.

Description: This benefit music series will feature Portland's top Soul, Latin & Jazz bands.

During the shows, we will spotlight positive tangible commentary from community activists, select nonprofits, and social equality advocates sharing ideas and strategies to unite our divided country.
