Elevate Unity Benefit Music Series - Portland Columbia Symphony
Saturday, July 10th, 2021
Doors open: 5:00 pm
Event begins: 6:00 pm
Portland Columbia Symphony:
The wonderfully versatile players of Portland Columbia Symphony are doing their part to keep our music scene humming, this time bringing a set of wildly entertaining New Orleans jazz to the rooftop. Upbeat tunes meet seasonally inspired cocktails – what could be more fun?
With concerts in both Portland and East Multnomah County, Portland Columbia Symphony is a locally focused professional orchestra made up of 62 freelance musicians who have spent the pandemic exploring new ways to reach audiences and bring music of all kinds to the community. Along with PCSO’s music director, Steven Byess, the band tonight consists of seven instrumentalists from the orchestra; it debuted last February as part of PCSO’s Annual 2021 Gala, bringing the lively spirit of old New Orleans to audiences across the region.
The Unity Benefit Music Series is a collaborative effort created from the necessity to support artists, reconnect our community, and promote Unity through the healing message of music!
Our focus is to advocate for social equality and address the need to support our local venues, production staff, restaurant workers, and musicians from the devastating effects of our industry shut down.
Description: This benefit music series will feature Portland's top Soul, Latin & Jazz bands.
During the shows, we will spotlight positive tangible commentary from community activists, select nonprofits, and social equality advocates sharing ideas and strategies to unite our divided country.
