BridgeCity Soul - Soul Band, Dance Band, Funk Band is not just the brainchild of Ramsey Embick but the dream of everyone in the band. Soul and R&B music must rank among the most unique of American music with its pulsing beat, soul-stirring vocals, and compelling message! BridgeCity Soul has 6 members all steeped in this idiom.

Danelle Barker, originally from Florida, armed with a Bachelor's in Music from PSU, a full blown arranger, and composer is a peerless vocalist who is the new darling of the local jazz scene. She has also thoroughly captured the hearts and imaginations of Portland’s soul enthusiasts.

Eddie Wright - a man of pure soul who began singing in church and performed with “Men of Hope” before embarking on a more public career in the Portland Soul/R&B scene.

Johnnie Russell on drums, a force of nature having performed with Andy Stokes, Yolanda Adams, Walter Hawkins, James Moore and the great Linda Hornbuckle.

Guitar wizard Doug Lewis has been an integral member of all things R&B in Portland for decades performing with Pleasure, Chaka Kahn, Linda Hornbuckle, and Andy Stokes.

Jeff Andrews on bass holding down the pocket is a long time pillar of the Portland area gospel and funk scene.

Leader Ramsey Embick on keys is an Oregon native who started his first soul band in high school and never looked back. Bandleader for the Pointer Sisters in the 80’s, also worked on projects with Jennifer Holiday, Gladys Knight, The Whispers, Gerald Levert, Rene & Angela, Michael Jackson, The Commodores, Bobby Womack, anyway, you get the idea. . .The point is this is the music that ignites the spirit in all of us because this is the music we all love.

Our Mission:
The Unity Benefit Music Series is a vital collaboration created from the necessity to reconnect with our community, unite our efforts for positive change, and help heal our city and country through the message of music!

Our focus is to advocate and address the need to support our local venues, staff, musicians, bartenders, and restaurant workers from the devastating effects of our industry shut down.

This series features top Soul, Latin, and jazz bands with special guests, plus resident DJ’s & MC's.

The evening will spotlight positive and informative commentary from local community activists, nonprofits, and social justice advocates sharing ideas and strategies to unite our city & country.

Botanist:
For those unfamiliar with Botanist, we are your thoughtful, intentional home away from home neighborhood destination bar/restaurant located in the heart of the Pearl District in Portland, Oregon. In the local community, we are known for our personalized style of hospitality, creative cocktails, and delectable tapas and entrées. Over the time that we have been open, we have been able to establish strong relationships with not only our guests (aka Our Family) but also the service industry professionals.
