An evening of Spanish and Latin fiery, sensuous, jazz-flavored playing by internationally acclaimed Peruvian classical guitarist Alfredo Muro. On Saturday, September 29 at 7:30 pm, “Dialogues for Guitar & Cello”, with special guest Canadian cellist Valdine Ritchie Mishkin. Don’t miss the magic when they perform at Classic Pianos of Portland.
Muro’s program features pieces by Celedonio Romero, Isaac Albeniz, Ernesto Nazareth, Astor Piazzolla, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, Bach and other great Latin composers. Muro’s virtuosity spans many eras and musical traditions but he is especially noted for his sophisticated interpretations of the modern Latin guitar repertoire. Born in Peru, Muro began teaching himself guitar at the age of nine and won a national prize three years later. Through the years he has performed throughout the Americas,as well as in Europe and Asia. He was the featured artist at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for the Millennium Center Series in 2007, and he performed at a special audience for the late Pope John Paul II at the Vatican. Muro is a gifted arranger and composer and has released many CD recordings of his own and other artists works.
