Dr. Lonnie Smith has been an authentic master and guru of the Hammond B-3 organ for over five decades, and has been featured on over seventy albums with a virtual “Who’s Who” of the greatest jazz, blues and R&B giants in the industry. Consequently, he has often been hailed as a “Legend,” a “Living Musical Icon,” and as the most creative jazz organist, by a slew of music publications.

For this engagement Doc returns to Portland with his groundbreaking trio featuring rising guitar star Jonathan Kreisberg and the exciting young gun Colin Stranahan on drums. Don't miss this exciting evening of grooving, swinging, and beyond.

The Mel Brown B3 Organ Group has been the signature sound of Jimmy Mak's, holding down Thursday nights for over 17 years.
The band plays organ-based soul-jazz in the tradition of Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, and Jimmy McGriff.  Mel also brings his 20-plus years of Motown work to the table, as the band also plays instrumental versions of Motown favorites.
