Fridays this spring, unwind with live jazz and crafted cocktails at Lovely Rita inside The Hoxton, Portland. From April 17 through June 5, PDX Jazz brings an intimate lineup of performances to the heart of downtown every Friday from 5–7 PM. Sip, savor, and start your weekend with the perfect mix of music and atmosphere.

Artist: Chris Clark-Johnson Trio

Chris Clark-Johnson is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Seattle, Washington. Based in‬ ‭American traditions of improvisation and composition, his music draws on global influences‬ ‭to inspire radical joy, understanding, and reflection. From Seattle guitar legend‬ ‭Danny Godinez and European-based songwriter Camille Bloom to Portland jazz mainstays‬ ‭Dan Balmer, Randy Porter, and Alan Jones, Clark-Johnson counts a wide range of unique voices in music‬‭ as mentors past and present, and hopes to pass along any knowledge and insight he’s‬ gained to others through his music and teaching.

Clark-Johnson has performed and recorded with many familiar faces in Portland’s vibrant jazz scene, including Cyrus Nabipoor, Machado Mijiga, Dae Bryant, Alan Jones, Pablo Rivarola, David Goldblatt, Charlie 3rown, Darell Grant, as well as artists in other genres such as Blaize Jenkins, Big World Breaks, Rocky Dawuni, Dynamq, and more. His debut record, First Frontier, was released on PJCE Records in November 2024.
