Vintage Soul: 
Steve Kerin - a member of the Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame, Steve Kerin has won the Muddy Award for Best Keyboard Player seven times. He has performed prolifically in the Northwest since he moved to the region in 2005. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana and classically trained, kerin fell in love with the piano music of New Orleans such as Dr. John, Professor Longhair and James Booker. kerin also performed blues music with Harry Hypolite, the former guitarist for Zydeco great Clifton Chenier. Steve’s old-school-blues journey with Harry culminated in a performance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival’s blues tent in 2005. Kerin brings a musical joy and authenticity to each and every show.
 
Chance Hayden - Always on the move as one of Portland’s most trusted guitarists, Chance Hayden performs extensively throughout the pacific northwest and beyond alongside diverse acclaimed artists such as Jarrod Lawson, Darrell Grant, Farnell Newton, Devin Phillips, Shelly Rudolph and Mel Brown. Hayden's second album, Get Somethin’ (Atlanta Records), has widely extended his international recognition as "a player who definitely knows how to get a lot of color and tone out of his instrument" (Dusty Groove). Having graduated from the PSU Jazz Studies program, Hayden's guitar stylings are well informed through the jazz tradition while equally steeped with blues, funk and soul: the authentic mixture is a result of a lifetime's listening, learning, teaching, practicing and performing.
 
Ben Jones - The young Drummer Ben Jones (at 14 years old) sat studying Ray Gomez’ guitar work on a Stanley Clarke album with the goal of learning how all the players fit together BUT instead became entranced by Stanley's bass playing: jones was a Bassman from that point forward. A native of Detroit, Michigan Jones has enjoyed a perpetually busy career spanning over 25+ years. He has performed, toured or recorded with a who’s-who of artists including the neville brothers, Anita Baker, Jeff lobber. Peter White, rick Braun, Frank Mccomb, Lloyd Jones, Eddie Martinez, Patrick Lamb, Liv Warfield and many more.
 
Brian Foxworth - As a leader of multiple bands and a sideman for national artists, Brian Foxworth has toured extensively and received critical acclaim for his drumming. A winner of multiple Cascade Blues Association awards for Best Drummer, Foxworth was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall Of Fame in 2015. often a first call player for studio sessions, In 2019 alone he appeared on eight different albums plus a commercial for the Oregon Department of Transportation. Some of FOxworth’s notable collaborators have included Pleasure, Paul Gilbert, Curtis Salgado, The Drifters, Linda Hornbuckle, Paul deLay, Chaz Shepherd, Jazmin Ghent & Peewee Ellis.

Description: This benefit music series will feature Portland's top Soul, Latin & Jazz bands.

During the shows, we will spotlight positive tangible commentary from community activists, select nonprofits, and social equality advocates sharing ideas and strategies to unite our divided country.
