April 17th 2015
Two shows, 7:30pm and 10:00pm

Pleasure was an Internationally known recording band from Portland that blended soul, funk and jazz with a tough street edge.
The band members were Donald & Michael Hepburn (keyboards), Marlon McClain (guitar), Nathaniel Phillips (bass), Bruce Carter (drums), Dennis Springer (saxophones), Dan Brewster (trombone), Bruce Smith (percussion), and Sherman Davis (lead vocals), a merger of two local NE Portland groups, Franchise and the Soul Masters, that joined forces in 1970. The groups changed their name and became Pleasure in 1972, before their first major concert with BB King.
Later that year, they gave a demo tape to Wayne Henderson, trombonist and founding member of the Jazz Crusaders. Henderson was impressed with what he heard, and his enthusiasm led to a recording contract with Fantasy records in 1973. They released their first album in 1974 and as the saying goes…..the rest is history!
