Portland Fashion Week 2015, The Experience.....

As of 2015 Portland Fashion Week has become the world's only Carbon Negative Fashion Week. With our lauded annual Carbon Mitigation Project in operation since 2007 whereby nearly 8,000 native trees and food bearing shrubs have been planted to date, we have recently included the incorporation of a Global Warming/Greening of Our City Initiative to replant strategic heat zones within the Portland Metro area with shade providing trees lasting generations.  We take sustainability very seriously and once again prove it with such innovative yet simple methods. 

Besides some of our other carbon reducing practices such as LED stage lighting; soy based inks and recycled papers for printing; an e-presence wherever possible; thinking globally but shopping locally; and supporting and fostering local charites and nacent designers, this year PFW is, for the first time, utilizing only Cruelty Free, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and Paraben free, Organic Hair Styling Products and Mineral based Cosmetics. 

These practices, paired with our locally sourced and organic food items by some of the city's best food carts, including a special Voodoo Donut in honor of PFW for the month of Oct., is our offering for a truly guilt free, eco-chic, PORTLAND experience.

Speaking of the Portland experience, our lounges will not only be showcasing our famous Food Carts, but we are deliberately featuring only select Portland beers, wines, spirits and hard ciders with samplings and meet and greets by the purveyors themselves. SupPortland!

What to expect when one gets there......

Each night is an homage to a specific facet within the fashion community! From our opening night showcasing Sustainability and Green Fashions, to Friday's Ready to Wear styles with J-Pop Star Emmi singing live as the back drop, and fromSaturday's Couture selections  to Accessories night Sunday, we offer something for everyone.

Doors open at 5:00PM daily, with dinner and drinks being served from open til close. Come early and get your spot on the PDX Airport "Green Carpet" and Paparazzi Banner for pictures, enjoy one of our Portland Fashion Week signature drinks and eat noshables from some of Portland's BEST Food carts before things get too busy! Mix and mingle while you people watch and compare shoes as some of Portland's coolest and most recognizable show up to catch the world's greenest Fashion Week! 

The nightly fashion shows will begin approx. 9:00PM and run for 30-45 minutes. Guests are asked to of course dress for the occasion! Our After party begins about 10:00PM and runs until 2:00AM nightly, with perhaps some private invite only or industry events going on from varying nearby locales after?  Ask one of our concierges, they will know all the good ones...

Guest will be greeted upon entrance by experienced and professional PFW staff ready to answer any questions or to help, with complimentary secured coat check offered. The classic and contemporary melodies of pianist Lee Rice will be heard as she will be playing anything from Van Halen to Chopin in the background.  Ask her to play your favorite song, she takes requests!

Guests are encouraged to walk past our ''Paparazzi Banner'' to the clicks of local photographic shutters with all images available free online for the download. Our VIP and Ultra VIP ticket holders and their guests will be granted access to a special VIP Only Lounge, tucked away by our DJ with a Complimentary Bar,  hors d'voeures, and desserts, nightly musical acts, various spirits samplings, shoe shine, massage, and DJ Cowboy spinning retro '60's, '70's and '80's tunes for the After Parties. Special Guest and Celebrity Artist Sam Roloff will be painting shadow boxed pictures of attending VIP's daily, for a personalized pieced of signatory and modern art, while US born Irish Artist Seamus Kennedy is painting the runway and crowd scenes reminiscent of Leroy Neimann and the 1976 Olympics.

Pushing boundaries is what we do! Being the fist Fashion Week in the world to showcase BOTH Sustainable and Plus-sized Fashions way back in 2005, this year Portland Fashion Week will once again be employing something neat in that a special team of iconic Northwesterners are part of our modeling cadre. Familiar names such as, Tres Shannon and Cat Daddy Founders of Voodoo Donuts, and Timber Joey are among those slated to walk.
