Celebrate summer at THPRD's fifth annual Groovin' on the Grass, headlined by the iconic horns and urban soul of legendary 10-piece ensemble Tower of Power, and featuring Portland jazz trio Boy and Bean.

Groovin' on the Grass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Doors open at 5:00 pm for general admission.

Advance tickets: $10 for general admission (gates at 5:00 pm), $20 early entrance SOLD OUT (gates at 4:00 pm). Children under age five are free.
Day of show: $15 general admission tickets can be purchased at the venue, if available.

Food / Drink

Beer, wine and food will be available for purchase, including craft beers from event sponsor Golden Valley Brewery. No outside alcohol is permitted, and coolers may be no larger than 22" x 15" x 15").

Entry / Seating

Groovin' on the Grass will be staged outdoors on the soccer fields at the district’s Howard M. Terpenning Recreation Complex. Doors open at 5:00 pm for general admission. 

Please note that all bags and coolers are subject to a brief inspection by event security personnel. Alcohol, glass, fireworks, weapons, location flags/signs that block the view of seated guests, smoking products, pets, canopies, quick shades and umbrella may not be brought into the venue.

All seating is open lawn seating. Attendees are entitled to use an area the equivalent of one 6' x 8' blanket and one chair per attendee.

**Only blankets and low beach chairs (30" maximum height w/seat no higher than 12" from the ground) will be permitted in the seating area closest to the stage. Guests with taller lawn chairs will be sent to designated spots at sides and rear of the seating area. 

Transportation / Parking

Campus parking will be at a premium for this event. Parking is not permitted in the Fred Meyer parking lot.

Limited parking is available at the HMT Complex, including:

  • An electric car charging station 
  • ADA-accessible parking spots 
  • Designated parking for motorcycles 
  • Bicycle parking

A free THPRD shuttle -- from the Merlo Rd./SW 158th Ave. MAX Station to the HMT Complex -- runs every 15 minutes, 3:30-9:30 pm.
